Cultural Note

The Dala horse, or Dalahst, is one of Swedens most iconic folk symbols, traditionally hand-carved and painted in the Dalarna region. Originally crafted as a childrens toy, it has become a national emblem of Swedish craftsmanship, rural life, and cultural pride. Incorporating the Dala horse into everyday items like salt and pepper shakers allows this heritage to live on in modern homes, blending tradition with daily ritual.
